L-Series Plus and SkyPanel Classic Firmware updates are for free and all about adding versatility and control - harnessing the awesome power of these lighting fixtures and putting that potential into the hands of the lighting technician, cinematographer, or console operator.

Features such as DMX Presets, and existing features such as custom RGBW White Point, x,y Coordinates Onboard Control, Extended Color Control, are available on a finger tab – for both, L-Series Plus and SkyPanel Classic.

DMX Presets

Firmware 4 makes it possible to save your DMX settings in up to 10 different presets. To save a new preset, you have to select your DMX settings, and long-press the two buttons "Menu" and "Preset".

If you want to load a previously defined DMX Preset, you just short-press "Menu" and "Preset", and choose a DMX Preset from the displayed list. When getting into the specific preset, you will get a summary of what is recorded.

Custom RGBW White Point

Firmware 4 gives you access to RGBW Calibrated Mode with a white point that can be set anywhere from 2800 K to 10,000 K. Having a user selectable white point gives users the ability to customize their RGBW output to any other light source's white.

x,y Coordinate Onboard Control

x, y Coordinate mode has become a popular method for recreating an exact match to a color point measured with a spectrometer. In Firmware 4, this exciting color mode can be controlled via DMX and can also be adjusted using the onboard control panel. Matching the desired color point and storing it in a preset to access later has never been easier.

Ultimate DMX Mode

The Ultimate DMX Mode in Firmware 4 allows for any control method to be selected within one DMX mode.
Simply Pick the color method and the DMX parameters will adjust to allow for control of the selected method.

DMX Live Page

When receiving a DMX signal, L-Series Plus and SkyPanel Classic can display detailed DMX information directly on the control panel with Firmware 4. Not only can the DMX mode, address, and channel count be easily read, but the fixture displays lighting values for the DMX signal it is receiving. The luminaire even does the conversion from DMX values to real world light output values by calculating the math internally. This feature is a powerful tool when troubleshooting DMX issues.

Wireless connectivity in the S360-C. Choose between a classic LumenRadio CRMX pairing, or the improved CRMX2 protocol: a powerful and easy way to link automatically your S360-C units to a specific transmitter via a specific linking key. Fast, easy, and reliable.

Stage Mode

Live entertainment and theatrical performances require completely smooth dimming to zero which create natural lighting transitions for their live audiences. The Stage Mode in Firmware 4 is designed specifically to meet these demands and opens up new doors for the use in live entertainment. Activating Stage Mode allows to smoothly and seamlessly dim down to zero percent intensity without color jumps or noticeable intensity drop off.
Web portal

The Web Portal is an easy way to make adjustments to L-Series Plus and Classic SkyPanel over an Ethernet or WiFi network. This Web Portal allows for fast navigation and comprehensive control interfaces offer complete control over all aspects of the fixture directly from any web browser. DMX functions are also monitored in detail.
Additional Lighting Effects

SkyPanel’s range of widely acclaimed lighting effects is expanding with SkyPanel Firmware 4. Explosion, welding, process, and fluorescent flicker have been added to the lineup for a new total of 17 pre-programmed lighting effects. Explosion is the perfect effect for muzzle flashes and explosion effects. Welding mimics the sparks of a high intensity welding source. Process sends light shooting down the surface of a SkyPanel to imitate the effect of a street light passing over a car - this effect works especially well with the S120. And finally, the fluorescent flicker effect recreates the hum and flutter of a malfunctioning fluorescent bulb. The customer favorite cop car effect has been augmented with five new color combinations.

Like most digital devices, ARRI LED products provide the possibility of easy and fast firmware updates. With one simple step, your lighting fixture is enhanced with amazing new features. Also, with every update, many smaller improvements are made to create a better user experience and improve performance. Since the introduction of ARRI’s LED product line, we have been continuously offering free firmware updates and supporting software. Your ARRI LED product can be years old and completely up to date at the same time.

Firmware Installation Instructions

If using a USB flash drive to update your Classic SkyPanel, please use a USB drive that is USB version 1.0 or 2.0 and is formatted to FAT or FAT32. The update file (.upd) must be in the root directory of the drive and the USB Mode on the fixture must be set to "Normal". Once the USB stick is inserted, the fixture will automatically look for the update files. When found, a list of update files will appear in the display. Highlight the update file and click the encoder. The update will begin - do not remove the USB stick until the file is completely copied.
If using ALSM (ARRI Lighting Service Manager) to update your Classic SkyPanel or L-Series Plus fixture, install the ALSM onto your Mac or PC. Then simply open the application and connect the fixture to the computer via Ethernet cable. The ALSM will automatically find your fixture once powered on and connected. Select the "Firmware Update" tab and then select the fixture you wish to update in the column on the left side of the screen. Click "Update Firmware" to begin the update. Do not disconnect your fixture from the power source or from the computer until the update is complete.
